How to Deactivate Instagram

Deactivating your Instagram account is a simple process that temporarily disables your profile, photos, comments, and likes. Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Log in to Instagram

1. Open a web browser on your phone or computer.
2. Go to instagram.com and log in with your account details.
3. Note: You cannot deactivate your account through the Instagram app; you need to use a browser.

Step 2: Go to Your Profile

1. Once logged in, click on your profile picture in the top right corner.
2. Select “Profile” from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Edit Profile

1. On your profile page, click “Edit Profile.”

Step 4: Temporarily Deactivate Account

1. Scroll down and click on “Temporarily deactivate my account” at the bottom right.
2. You will be asked why you want to deactivate your account. Select a reason from the dropdown menu.

Step 5: Re-enter Your Password

1. Enter your Instagram password again to confirm.
2. Click on “Temporarily Deactivate Account.”

How to Reactivate Your Instagram Account

To reactivate your account, simply log back into Instagram using the same username and password. Your profile will be restored with all your previous content.

Important Note

Deactivating your account is different from deleting it. Deactivation is temporary, while deleting your account is permanent.
